KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Dec. 7, 2009) – Everest Institute announced today that it will help fight hunger this holiday season by hosting a food drive beginning Dec. 17, and partnering with Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, the leading charitable source of emergency food assistance in Kalamazoo County.

Everest Institute, located at 5177 W. Main Street, will accept non-perishable food items that will be donated to needy families via Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes. Items can be dropped off at the campus Dec. 17-18 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Dec. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event will correspond with Everest’s holiday open house Dec. 19 at 10 a.m., where high school students and their families will be able to participate in the charity by helping staff organize and pack donated items. By participating, students will also receive community service credit.

At the open house, prospective students will also be able to learn more about Everest and its programs, which include medical assisting, dental assisting, massage therapy, pharmacy technician, medical administrative assisting and business accounting. There will be demonstrations from current Everest students, a tour of the campus and an explanation of different programs from instructors.

The Everest Kalamazoo, Michigan campus is now opening enrollment for students interested in short-term education in Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician, Massage Therapy, Business Accounting, and Medical Administrative Assistant.

These programs may be completed by full-time students within 9-months.
