Everest College-Everett Adds Accredited Criminal Justice Associate Degree Program

Demand For Law Enforcement, Forensics, Criminal Justice Professionals Expected to Rise
EVERETT, Wash. (February 24, 2010) – Everest College-Everett today announced that it is adding a two-year criminal justice degree program to its course offering. The field of criminal justice is expected to grow significantly between 2008 and 2018, with increased employment of police officers and detectives by 10 percent, probation officers and correctional treatment specialists by 19 percent and private detectives and investigators by 22 percent, according to projections by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics*. The school has targeted April to launch its Associate of Science in Criminal Justice program.
“The criminal justice field continues to experience steady growth and provide solid career opportunities,” said Kim Lothyian, president of the Everett campus. “Everest’s criminal justice program provides a solid educational foundation to pursue a variety of career paths. Our graduates will fill needed criminal justice career roles, and more importantly, strengthen our community as a whole.”
The 24-month criminal justice degree program will teach students the necessary skills for entry-level positions in law enforcement**, corrections, security or social work career fields. The program also includes a comprehensive study of the national criminal justice system, correctional organizations and law enforcement agencies.
Everest’s Criminal Justice program include such courses as: Applied Business Law, Criminology, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Evidence, Criminal Procedure and the Constitution, Criminal Investigations, Criminal Justice Communications, Introduction to Corrections, Introduction to Interviews and Interrogations, and Introduction to Terrorism.
Everest’s Career Services team is dedicated to assisting students in finding employment upon graduation. Career opportunities for a graduate with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice include entry-level positions in corrections, probation, immigration, security, social services and administration.

Residents In and Near Columbus Can Now Train to Become Dental Assistants
GAHANNA, Ohio (January 19, 2009) – Everest Institute – Gahanna is now training students to compete for careers as dental assistants and are projected to be among the fastest growing occupations from 2008 to 2018, a growth of 36 percent.* To keep pace with steady demand in the industry, Everest Institute at Gahanna has added a new dental assisting program to its curriculum and is now enrolling students. The new program complements three health care programs presently offered at the Gahanna campus.
Population growth and a greater retention rate of natural teeth by middle-aged and older people will be among the factors fueling demand for dental services.
“With the increased demand for trained health care professionals, our new Dental Assisting Program is an important addition and can provide trained dental assistants to the health care community,” said Gahanna campus president Martin Ehrenberg.
Everest Institute – Gahanna’s new Dental Assisting Program can be completed in less than a year, and provides an interactive hands-on learning environment, which includes real-world work place simulations. Dental assistant training includes a study of dental office emergencies, dental radiography, dental specialties, operatory dentistry, laboratory procedures, dental anatomy and orthodontics, and an externship.
Students enrolled in Everest’s new Dental Assisting Program can develop the skills to handle a diverse array of responsibilities in the delivery of dental care, which can include chair side assisting methods, patient procedures and related office and laboratory duties. Everest training can also help students develop life skills that can be leveraged over a lifetime.
Program graduates of Everest’s Dental Assisting program are qualified to seek entry-level employment with dental offices, dental manufacturers, dental laboratories and insurance companies.

Best Video Wins two airline tickets to anywhere in the continental US
SANTA ANA, Calif., (January 6, 2010) – The best New Year’s Resolution video could yield two airline tickets to anywhere in the continental United States for to the grand prize winner of the “2010 Everest New Year’s Resolution Getaway” video contest. Contestants have until January 30 to create and upload a YouTube video no longer than one minute documenting their resolutions.
A panel of judges will select the winner based on each video’s originality and creativity, adherence to creative assignment, and overall appeal. The winner will be notified on February 9, and the video content will be featured on the Everest YouTube Channel. The top 10 finalists will win an Everest Prize Pack and will be featured on the channel. Everest will also create a YouTube video that highlights some of the best entries.
All contestants must be 18 or older to participate. Students and employees of Everest, WyoTech, Heald or Corinthian Colleges as well as their families are encouraged to participate, but are not eligible to win prizes.
