Sometimes it feels hard to stand out in a job search. Here are some great ways to set yourself apart from the pack.

  1. Do your research. Read up on the industry and the company.
  2. Volunteer. Look into volunteering — related to your field or just doing good works —and put it on your résumé. Two entry-level applicants and only one has regularly volunteered at a clinic or blood drive…who do you think will get the job?
  3. Make connections. Volunteering is also a great way to meet people in the industry and make important connections.
  4. Be positive! Good energy and a positive outlook go a long way in making a good impression.
