School ranks 30th on CollegeSurfing.com’s list of 50 social media innovators

SANTA ANA, Calif. (March 16, 2010) – Everest College was recently named to CollegeSurfing.com’s list of 50 Social Media Innovators in Higher Education, earning a bronze medal in the Web 2.0 College Olympics. Everest placed 30th among 50 schools.

On Everest specifically, the online affiliate of the CollegeBound Network noted that Everest “tweets to help nontraditional students learn about education options and posts plenty of individualized encouragement on its Twitter feed. This is a school that really knows how to connect with each student. The quality of each tweet earns the school a bronze medal. Also, the chat option on the website allows prospective students to connect with a person in real time and get their questions answered about academic programs and opportunities.”

“Twitter is a great customer service tool; it optimizes response times and adds a personal touch,” said Jon Barilone, a member of Everest College’s social media team. “Our approach is to personalize our online communities and encourage conversation about our brand by engaging our Twitter and Facebook users. Whether it’s a simple conversation, answering their questions or directing them to additional resources, our job is to make sure they get the information they need.”

Other bronze medal winners included Harvard, Vanderbilt and the schools of the University of California system. Tufts University in Massachusetts was ranked No. 1.
