DECATUR, Ga. (Dec. 20, 2010) — Everest Institute, one of Atlanta’s leading career colleges, has announced it will add a dental assistant program this January at its Decatur campus.

To accommodate the new program, the campus, located at 2460 Wesley Chapel Road, Suite 500 in Decatur, Georgia has undergone a recent renovation to add dental assistant technology labs and classroom facilities.

“The addition of dental assistant and over overall growth is based on the employment demands of our community,” said campus president Barbara Holliman.

The dental assistant program consists of coursework in:

  • Laboratory Procedures
  • Dental Anatomy and Orthodontics

Graduates in the dental assistant program will be prepared for careers at dental offices.

In addition to dental assistant, Everest Institute-Decatur offers job training in: dialysis technician; electrician; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); massage therapy; medical administrative assistant; medical assistant; medical insurance billing and coding; and respiratory care.

Health Care Career Training Programs Address Community Needs

FORT WORTH, Texas (June 16, 2010) – With the demand for medical administrative assistants expected to increase 16 percent and dental assistants expected to increase 36 percent over the next 10 years, both of these health care specialties are projected to have large numbers of job openings, according to the Bureau and Labor Statistics*. To meet that demand, Everest College’s new Fort Worth South campus has added two health care programs — Medical Administrative Assistant and Dental Assistant.

The medical administrative assistant program is eight months long and includes study on medical office administrative procedures, accounting functions essential to a medical environment, patient record set up and maintenance, filing and record keeping, basic coding with CPT and ICD-9 codes, preparation and processing insurance claims, dictation and transcription, correspondence and mail processing, and computerized practice management.

The Medical Administrative Assistant program includes coursework on the following:

  • Office Finance
  • Patient Processing and Assisting
  • Medical Insurance
  • Insurance Plans and Collections
  • Office Procedures
  • Patient Care and Computerized Practice Management
  • Dental Administrative Procedures

The dental assistant training is eight months long and includes laboratory experience, which entails hands-on simulations to help students learn actual working conditions. The program includes instruction on dental radiography, dental sciences, operatory dentistry, laboratory procedures, dental anatomy, orthodontics, and dental health, as well as a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties. After students complete all coursework and lab work, they must complete 160 hours of unpaid in-service in a dental office.

Residents In and Near Columbus Can Now Train to Become Dental Assistants

GAHANNA, Ohio (January 19, 2009) – Everest Institute – Gahanna is now training students to compete for careers as dental assistants and are projected to be among the fastest growing occupations from 2008 to 2018, a growth of 36 percent.* To keep pace with steady demand in the industry, Everest Institute at Gahanna has added a new dental assisting program to its curriculum and is now enrolling students. The new program complements three health care programs presently offered at the Gahanna campus.

Population growth and a greater retention rate of natural teeth by middle-aged and older people will be among the factors fueling demand for dental services.

“With the increased demand for trained health care professionals, our new Dental Assisting Program is an important addition and can provide trained dental assistants to the health care community,” said Gahanna campus president Martin Ehrenberg.

Everest Institute – Gahanna’s new Dental Assisting Program can be completed in less than a year, and provides an interactive hands-on learning environment, which includes real-world work place simulations.
