What does a paralegal do?

Paralegals help lawyers draft contracts and other legal documents, under their guidance. They also play an important role in conducting research that helps support court arguments and legal briefs. Paralegals don’t give legal advice or represent clients in a court of law, but some are notaries and can sign legal documents.

If you’re looking for a career where you get to work as part of a legal team, take a look at Everest. There you can train with experienced instructors with real-world knowledge.

You’ll develop good research and writing skills, as well as editing skills. Everest instructors will also teach you legal terms, and how to organize briefs and assist in managing a legal office. When you graduate, you’ll be familiar with the qualities employers are looking for.

The 24-month paralegal program will train students to interview, gather, review and analyze factual situations, research the law, prepare and interpret legal documents, and conduct legal office operations.

The paralegal program will also focus on teaching students about the particulars of contracts, estate planning, wills, trusts, estate taxes, estate sales and joint tenancy.
