How to Dress Professionally

Posted on: August 16, 2011

Congratulations! The company has taken interest and you’ve been given the date and time of your first interview. You’re feeling confident, and that’s a good thing. You’ve researched the company and you’re ready for questions they might ask.

You even have several fresh copies of your resume in your backpack. Hold on a minute! Backpack? You may have done everything to prepare, but taking a backpack into an interview might kill your chances of landing the job.

What you wear and carry into an interview may speak volumes about your character and how the interviewer will perceive your ability to meld with the company’s culture.

Every industry has a standard or general dress code, whether you’re interviewing for an accounting firm, a construction company, or a health care office. It takes a little research, but knowing how to dress professionally for the job may speak volumes about your ability to fit in.
